Downers Grove History
Downers Grove, Illinois is located in west suburban DuPage
County, only 25 miles from Chicago. Downers Grove was founded by
Pierce Downers in 1832. He built the village using trees from a
huge grove adjacent to the pristine Illinois prairie. When the
railroad established a depot, town growth was inevitable.
