A Family Affair

This is especially true for me since I am lucky enough to have my husband as my business partner. We keep our business small because that’s the way we like it. A lot of other successful agents/brokers opt to develop larger teams. RE/MAX management realizes that people are different – as well as their lifestyles – including work habits, initiatives and goals. So they leave it all up to the individual. Whichever way works best for you – is best for them. The power of each individual to choose their own path to success is what RE/MAX is all about.

Never in my wildest dreams did I believe that I would choose to sell real estate and give up my teaching career to do it. I was a teacher for 17 years and spent many hours with my students in after school coaching and choreographing dance productions. I loved my job and my students – but I needed a break from the after-school activities. To supplement the loss of income, I became a part-time real estate agent. Listening and planning skills – so vital to teachers – were a Godsend. My business blossomed. And just as school enrollment dropped, I was prepared to step into my new career with high expectations.

As everyone knows, you have to love people to succeed in this business. You have to assess the true motivation of sellers and buyers. Sometimes, they haven’t figured it out themselves. This is where I excel. I listen, read between the lines, and then offer a variety of options from which to choose. I keep the door open on all options to achieving their goals, and nothing stops me in doing everything possible to fulfill their dreams. Helping families find that perfect home in which to live and thrive – or selling their home when life changes occur – turns clients into friends. All things being equal, people want to do business with their friends. It is the heart of my success.

Diana, a former high school teacher and coach, joined RE/MAX in 1990. She works with sellers and buyers throughout the marketing process – showing properties and securing information from other REALTORS after showings on her listings. Chuck, her husband, a former decorating contractor, joined RE/MAX in 1993. He primarily works with sellers and buyers providing representation at inspections, final walk-thrus’, and any necessary follow-ups. The Ivas’ credit their success to “giving 100 percent plus” to their clients – and maintaining positive, productive relationships with other RE/MAX associates.
